Meghan Markle Recreates Princess Diana’s Look With Northwestern University Sweatshirt

Meghan Markle’s latest look is seemingly a nod to Princess Diana! On Sunday, Feb. 23, the Duchess of Sussex took to her Instagram stories to highlight some snaps from the weekend, including a video in which she sported a purple Northwestern University crewneck. The sweatshirt appears to be the same one her late mother-in-law was photographed wearing in 1996 outside of Chelsea Harbour Club in London as she ran errands. Princess Diana had been gifted the crewneck following a visit to the university in June of the same year where she sought to help raise money for cancer research. During her three-day trip, the former Princess of Wales also attended a black-tie fundraising gala at Chicago’s Field Museum of Natural History which included A-list guests like Tony Bennett. Northwestern University noted that the late Princess’ visit raised nearly $1.5 million for “cancer research beneficiaries.” Plus, Meghan also has her own connection to the university, as she studied at Northwestern from 1999 to 2003, double majoring in International Relations and Theater.
