Jon Stewart Bloodies Hand On Air After Smashing Mug During ‘Daily Show’ DOGE Rant
Jon Stewart had a bloody good time during his most recent hosting stint on “The Daily Show.” The comedian shocked fans after slicing his hand open during a passionate monologue on the Comedy Central series. Stewart was speaking at length about Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency on the Feb. 24 episode when he smashed a coffee mug against his desk, leaving both him and the audience surprised when he realized he’d injured himself. “I’ll be going to the hospital soon,” he teased. Though the host kept his hand out of view for most of the segment, he did lift it up to take a peek near the end and briefly showed his fingers covered in blood. “It’s fine!” he joked. Though neither Comedy Central nor the funnyman offered immediate details on the severity of his cut, it seems Stewart’s sense of humor is intact. While the Daily Show poked fun at the incident on Instagram, writing that Stewart made “some ‘cuts’ of his own” and is hopefully “fine,” the comedian noted in a separate post that the episode was “bloody good,” adding, “I’m an idiot.” Stewart’s heated rant took on DOGE’s handling of pharmaceutical subsidies amid controversial budget cuts across the federal government. The Associated Press reported on Feb. 25 that 20 tech staffers resigned from DOGE in a joint letter explaining that they refused to “dismantle critical public services.” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed the mass resignation, saying in a statement in part that President Trump “will not be deterred from delivering on the promises he made to make our federal government more efficient and more accountable to the hardworking American taxpayers.”
