Savannah Guthrie Tears Up On Air & Renews Plea For Tips After Report On Mom Nancy’s Possible Death

Savannah Guthrie made a tearful plea during the Tuesday broadcast of “TODAY” after a report aired new details on the investigation into her missing mom Nancy Guthrie. On June 23, the morning news show reported that the second note sent to media outlets from an alleged kidnapper had indicated that Nancy had died and made no request for money, according to three people familiar with the matter. NBC News additionally stated, citing those sources, that while there was no apology for allegedly taking Nancy, there was regret over her passing. Guthrie has been reported missing since Feb. 1. After the report aired, Savannah said that she had no comment on the story and is not involved in the “TODAY” coverage but tearfully urged people to come forward if they have any information. “I can’t pretend I’m not here. And so since I am, I wanted to take the opportunity to ask people, to really to beg people, to come forward. Somebody knows something. And this is a new story today that is on your radar. But this is the life that my sister lives, that I live, that my brother lives, that our extended families live, that our children live every day. And we are in agony. We cannot be at peace,” she said, adding, “So, no matter how much I try to come out here every day and smile and find that joy, and I will, I promise I will, this is a moment to tell you that we need your help. We’re begging for your help, and I’m not going to miss that opportunity.” Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324).
