Babyface Breaks Silence On Viral Grammys Interview Where Reporters Cut Him Off For Chappell Roan

An awkward Grammys moment with Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds has gone viral, sparking outrage from fans. While speaking with the Associated Press on the red carpet, Babyface was interrupted by one of the reporters in favor of an interview with Chappell Roan. After spotting the “Pink Pony Club” singer, the reporter said “Chappell, Chappell” while Babyface answered a question. Once he realized what was happening, Babyface smiled and said, “go do that” before stepping aside to let the reporters interview Roan. Social media backlash swiftly came from fans as well as famous names like Khloe Kardashian and Dionne Warwick. At the end of the broadcast the reporter apologized for the moment. “First I wanted to say that I’m really sorry about interrupting Babyface earlier. Chappell Roan had come up and there was a lot of commotion as there is on these carpets,” she told viewers later in the AP’s livestream. Babyface responded to the incident, saying in a statement to People the following day, “The best part of the night was reconnecting with old friends, meeting new artists and feeling all the love in the room. That’s what I’ll remember.” Access Hollywood has also reached out to the music legend for comment.
