Taylor Swift Felt ‘Guilt’ & ‘Fear’ After Canceling Shows Due To Terror Plot

Taylor Swift is speaking out for the first time after a terror plot forced her to cancel her Vienna shows. The Grammy winner addressed her canceled tour stops in a lengthy Instagram post on Aug. 21 that commemorated the end of the European leg of The Eras Tour. “Having our Vienna shows cancelled was devastating,” she wrote. “The reason for the cancellations filled me with a new sense of fear, and a tremendous amount of guilt because so many people had planned on coming to those shows. But I was also so grateful to the authorities because thanks to them, we were grieving concerts and not lives.” The 34-year-old was scheduled to perform from Aug. 8 to Aug. 10 at Ernst Happel Stadium however, she canceled the shows after local police said on Aug. 7 that a planned terrorist plot had targeted the concert. In the lengthy post Taylor also explained why she waited until the European leg of her tour was over to speak out about the terror plot. “Let me be very clear: I am not going to speak about something publicly if I think doing so might provoke those who would want to harm the fans who come to my shows,” she explained. “In cases like this one, ‘silence’ is actually showing restraint, and waiting to express yourself at a time when it’s right to. My priority was finishing our European tour safely, and it is with great relief that I can say we did that.”
