‘SNL 50’: James Austin Johnson & Andrew Dismukes Share Their ‘Pinch Me’ Moment After Joining Show
James Austin Johnson and Andrew Dismukes are gearing up for “Saturday Night Live’s” 50th anniversary! The “SNL” stars chatted with Access Hollywood ahead of the iconic sketch comedy series’ televised celebration, and looked back on their time at the late-night show as they each revealed what a “pinch me” moment was for them. “I got a call right after we put in [a] rewrite and somebody was saying, ‘Ryan Gosling wants to talk to you in his dressing room.’ And I was like, ‘Well, that’s cool. But also, what the heck is that?’” Andrew, who began as a writer on the show, told Access, adding, “So I went to his dressing room, and he was just in there, and he’s reading the script, and he went, ‘Hey, you made these changes. I really liked the original. Can we go back to that?’ And I was like, ‘Absolutely. We can go back to that!’ And it was just a cool, like, I’m in here collaborating with Ryan Gosling. He’s taking an interest in my work.” Plus, James, who is known for portraying President Donald Trump, shared how he nails his political impressions. “I honestly – I say a little prayer. I say a little prayer and I say, ‘Let me do this the right way.’ Every time you see me doing Donald Trump, I have just had a little moment with God saying, ‘Please tell me how to do this right,’” the actor joked in part.
