Britney Spears Talks Hosting ‘Saturday Night Live’ For First Time In Resurfaced 2000 Interview

Access Hollywood is counting down “Saturday Night Live’s” 50-year anniversary celebration on Feb. 16, by taking a look back at our own moments from the show. We’re kicking it off by going back 25 years to 2000, when we were on set with host and musical guest Britney Spears. The then 18-year-old made history on May 13, 2000 when she became the youngest person to pull off double duty on the show. “I won’t go overboard, but yeah pretty much (open to) anything. I don’t mind. I think it’s fun,” Britney told Access ahead of her first time hosting the show. Two years later, she was back and she told Access it helped that she knew what to expect. “It does help a bit that I’ve done it before, so I know the ins and outs of going backstage and I know what it’s like. But it’s just so amazing. It reminds me of theater from when I was younger,” she told Access in 2002.
