Ben Affleck Reveals Son Sam Asked Him For Sports Betting Money Nearly Year After Viral Shoe Video

Ben Affleck’s relatable parenting reactions continue! During a Jan. 5 appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” the Academy Award winner revealed his shock when he learned that his and ex-wife Jennifer Garner’s 13-year-old son Samuel has a new interest in sports betting. “My son asked me like a month ago, ‘Hey um can I get like 100 bucks to bet on sports?’ I was like ‘What?!” he recalled to Kimmel adding, “[He’s like,] ‘My friends get $100, but if they lose it, then that’s it.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, that’s a real standard, what discipline! Like, so that you don’t come twitching back going, ‘I know that Green Bay is going to cover the over in the second half.’” The actor’s hilarious confession came nearly a year after a video of him went viral for telling his son “that’s a lot of lawns you gotta mow there” while the teenager eyed a pair of $6,000 Dior Air Jordan 1s at a sneaker convention. Access Hollywood caught up with the director days later last year at the South by Southwest premiere of his film “The Accountant 2” in which he revealed if Sam had begun to take on the chore. “That’s what happens when you tell a motherf—er they have to mow the lawn. All of a sudden, they don’t want those shoes,” he joked in part, later adding, “He’s like, ‘We have the money.’ I’m like, ‘I have the money. You’re broke!’”
