Thomas Gibson has been dismissed from the long-running CBS drama “Criminal Minds.”
ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios, which produce the series, made the announcement Friday with no further details.
The firing was preceded by an apology by Gibson on Thursday.
“There were creative differences on the set and a disagreement. I regret that it occurred.”
Gibson refused to provide details on what occurred.
Gibson has starred on “Criminal Minds” – a show that follows a group of FBI profilers – since its premiere in 2005. He previously starred in the hospital drama series “Chicago Hope” and the sitcom “Dharma & Greg.”
Mr. Gibson responded to Access Hollywood’s request for comment with the following statement:
“I love Criminal Minds and have put my heart and soul into it for the last 12 years,” Gibson said in a statement to Access Hollywood on Friday. “I had hoped to see it through to the end, but that won’t be possible now. I would just like to say thank you to the writers, producers, actors, our amazing crew, and, most importantly, the best fans that a show could ever hope to have.”
A statement was released Friday as well on behalf of ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios regarding the dismissal of Thomas Gibson:
“Thomas Gibson has been dismissed from Criminal Minds. Creative details for how the character’s exit will be addressed in the show will be announced at a later date.”
