‘Supergirl’ Finds Its Man Of Steel: Tyler Hoechlin Cast As Clark Kent/Superman!

From “Teen Wolf” to Man of Steel! Tyler Hoechlin
has been cast as Superman in The CW’s “Supergirl.”

Tyler has landed the role of one of the most anticipated
characters of the 2016-2017 television season – playing Clark Kent/Superman on
the network drama.

“Greg [Berlanti] and I
have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because
Tyler is Superman,” “Supergirl” Executive Producer Andrew
Kreisberg said in a statement on Thursday. “We are so thrilled and humbled
to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.”

Superman was a much-talked-about character in Season 1 of “Supergirl,” seen only in shadow. In Season 2, he will visit his cousin, Kara, played by Melissa Benoist, in National City.

This isn’t Tyler’s first link to a DC Comics-related project. Back in 2013, Cosmic Book News reported that Tyler was being considered for the Batman role that eventually went to Ben Affleck, in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”

“I saw that too,” Tyler told Loaded magazine, when the British mag brought up the report in a video interview, posted on YouTube in May of this year to promote his 2016 film “Everybody Wants Some.”

Asked if he would be interested in doing a superhero film, Tyler shared his enthusiasm over the DC movies.

“Oh God, yeah, absolutely,” he said in the Loaded interview. “James Bond was my fantasy role for a very long time when I was a kid and then someone destroyed my dreams and told me I’m not British so I can’t do that, and so that one kind of went out the window, so I guess our version of James Bond in the states is Batman. So yeah, absolutely. I think done the right way, I mean, I love the series with Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale, what they did, so something like that would absolutely be appealing to me, for sure.”

“Supergirl” moves to The CW in the fall, and will air Monday nights at 8/7c.
