Mikaela Shiffrin Earns Historic 100th World Cup Race Win

Mikaela Shiffrin has made history!

The ski icon extended her World Cup wins record with her 100th World Cup win in the Giant Slalom in Sestriere, breaking the previous record of 86 World Cup wins in 2023.

After the historic win, Shiffrin spoke out about her the epic achievement.

Everybody’s been so nice and so supportive. All of my teammates and competitors and coaches and the whole World Cup and I’m so grateful, thank you. And the fans, thank you so much,” she said, per CNN.

At the race, she beat out Zrinka Ljutic by .61 seconds, while Mikaela’s teammate Paula Motzan placed third.

Prior to her win, Shiffrin spoke out on social media about how she was feeling, thanking her teammates for always having her back.

“Before stepping back into the start gate of GS, I want thank my teammates who have helped me to wrap my head around the realness & validity of the psychological symptoms involved in this return. They have helped me to understand that the only way forward (aside from time) is …to keep trying. Also, a special thanks to my team for their work and patience and determination that we can tackle this challenge, together I do not yet feel entirely myself…but I do feel enough of myself to be here…and for now, that is enough. GS – 2/21/25 – Sestriere”

Fans can watch Mikaela next month at the Alpine Skiing Stifel Sun Valley Finals, with coverage beginning March 20.
