Leighton Meester & Luke Cook Reveal Portraying Siblings In ‘Good Cop/Bad Cop’ Was ‘So Natural’

When Leighton Meester and Luke Cook joined forces to portray a pair of sibling detectives on the new dramedy series “Good Cop/Bad Cop,” the brother-sister dynamic was “so natural.”

“It was so easy. I don’t think we rehearsed it – like honestly, once – even rehearsing how we bicker as a family, or how we don’t get along,” Luke told Access Hollywood’s Scott Evans. “It’s just great writing, I guess.”

The two also could pull from their personal experiences to create some of that relatable familial tension.

“We have siblings – and even if you don’t, you have somebody who’s kind of like– who bugs the hell out of you,” Leighton quipped. “But you have to love them, because you’re related to them.”

In “Good Cop/Bad Cop,” Leighton and Luke portray siblings Lou and Henry, who solve crimes in their Pacific Northwest town.

The funny procedural marks Leighton’s return to the CW following her breakout role in “Gossip Girl,” and it was an easy yes on her end.

“Literally, from the first script I got, I was like, ‘I want to say these lines. I want to see who they cast in these roles,'” she shared. “Every character, the whole ensemble is just wonderful, and everybody they got is amazing.”

“Good Cop/Bad Cop” premieres Feb. 19 on The CW and and Feb. 20 on Australia’s STAN.
