Rain or shine, Kelly Clarkson is going for the gold!
The music superstar and TV host, 42, joined Access Hollywood’s Kit Hoover in Paris ahead of hosting the Olympics’ Opening Ceremony on July 26 and shared how she was acclimating to unexpected weather changes.
“We’ve been here all week prepping and now everything has changed because it’s raining,” Kelly explained, sharing how she was a little “sad” because she and co-host Peyton Manning “loved” their seats but ultimately “don’t mind the rain.”
After all, it’s Paris!
“There’s no bad view in this city,” Kelly added.
The singer went on to rave over working with Peyton and their fellow host Mike Tirico and said her daughter, River Rose, was especially excited to be in the City of Love – and teased that the 10-year-old was even ready for the spotlight!
“My daughter was like, ‘When are we going on the red carpet?'” Kelly smiled. “I was like, ‘Baby, you’re not walking,’ she called it the runway. ‘When are we going on the runway?’ And I was like, ‘you’re not going on the runway.’ I was like, ‘River, nobody can get anywhere in this place it’s so tightly locked down.’ I said, ‘You won’t even see Mommy.'”
In addition to her colleagues Peyton and Mike, Kelly also had kind words for NBC Olympics commentator Snoop Dogg.
“He is so on it, so professional, so respectful, so fun so cool,” she said of the hip-hop icon. “He’s one of my favorite people that I’ve ever worked with.”
As for her own Olympic dreams, Kelly said she’d love to “be like Katniss Everdeen” in archery and even does the sport on her own property at home for fun.
The real win for the mom of two, though, is just reflecting on how far she’s come since her “American Idol” days.
“The coolest thing for me is I never expected to be in the TV world, like back in the TV world. I know that’s how I started but I never expected that full circle moment,” Kelly told Kit. “I would say that’s a gold moment, being there with my team at the Emmys.”
