Bing Crosby’s Widow Recovering From Serious Injuries In Sierra Traffic Accident

Bing Crosby’s widow is recovering from serious injuries suffered in a traffic accident in the Sierra Nevada.

California Highway Patrol spokesman Dan Stark said Thursday that 77-year-old Kathryn Crosby suffered major injuries in the Nov. 4 crash on U.S. 50 east of Placerville, Calif. The wreck killed her 85-year-old husband, Maurice William Sullivan.

Stark says Sullivan was westbound when his vehicle left the roadway, struck a large boulder and rolled many times. He was ejected.

Kathryn Crosby, who has homes in Genoa and Hillsborough, Calif., was flown to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, Nev., and has since been discharged.

Kathryn Crosby and the crooner were married for nearly 20 years before his 1977 death.
