Miles Teller wanted to make a unique love story with “The Gorge.”
The action/adventure romance film follows Miles and Anya Taylor-Joy’s characters, who are two highly trained operatives who become close after being sent to protect the opposite sides of a mysterious gorge. Eventually, they have to work together to survive what lies beneath.
“We really wanted to make a love story under tension, so I think Valentine’s Day, of all the holidays, that is kind of what it’s about. So yeah, it’s the perfect one. It’s a kickass Valentine’s Day movie,” Miles told Access Hollywood at the film’s Los Angeles premiere.
Anya echoed Miles’ remarks, joking it’s good “alternative programming for Valentine’s Day.”
As for his real-life Valentine’s Day plans with wife, Keleigh Teller, he said, “we got to do some traveling.”
Anya said she put her heart into the film.
“If the love story doesn’t work in this movie the rest of the elements don’t and I think Miles and I worked really hard at it and we put a lot of our hearts into it so we hope that you enjoy it,” Anya told Access.
The Emmy winner also gushed over working with her good friend Miles on the project.
“I think I’m lucky enough to make really good friends as I’m filming but this was the first movie I did with a friend already and our bond has just deepened so much,” she told Access. “And going to work every day knowing that somebody really has you back but also knows all of your history and knows your family and your husband, like it was the best.”
“The Gorge” premieres Feb. 14 on Apple TV+.
