What Made Charlie Hunnam Stop Reading Negative Reviews

Access Hollywood’s Scott Evans spoke to Charlie Hunnam on the Critics’ Choice Awards carpet about his nomination for his starring role in “Monster: The Ed Gein Story.” He revealed why he doesn’t read any of the critics, “I learned that trick early in my career, I’ve been doing this 27 years.” Adding, “There was a film I did called ‘Green Street Hooligans’ which ended up getting a cult following but the critics weren’t particular kind of me, but I said, ‘I don’t need to go through this again.’” Charlie also explained how he didn’t know about his Critics’ Choice nomination until he looked at his phone and noticed dozens of text messages. The actor also shared one of his 2026 intentions for the new year, “To start journaling, I made a few really valiant attempts to journal in the past and it’s lasted a week or 2 but I have some friends who journal and I just think it’s such a positive thing and to hold that mirror up to yourself.”
